Poha Chivda is a traditional Maharashtrian recipe.
It is a quick & easy tea time snack made with poha (Flattened rice),dry fruits, peanuts & spices. There are many variations of this chivda.
This snack is also known as farsan or Namkeen in some places. To make this chivda you can roast it in pan or oven Or else you can deep fry it.
I am making the roasted poha chivda & the details of the making & ingredients are below…
Ingredients:
1.Thin flattened rice/Poha-2 cups
2.Cashew nuts halves-2tbsp
3.Roasted chana dal/gram dal-3tbsp
4.Peanuts-1/4 cup
5.Curry leaves-10 to 12
6.Powdered sugar-1tsp
7.Oil-2tbsp
8.Mustard seeds-1tsp
9.Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
10.Red chilly powder-1 tsp
11.Salt to taste
The making of Poha Chivda:
1.First to roast the flattened rice heat a pan & add 2 cups of thin flattened rice/poha.
2.Roast for 3 to 4 minutes until it becomes crispy while stir continuously.
3.When the poha becomes crispy & little golden take It out & keep aside.
4.Now again heat the same pan & add oil-2tbsp.
5.When the oil is hot add mustard seeds-1tsp & Curry leaves-10 to 12.
6.Saute for some seconds to crackle the mustard seeds.
7.Once done add raw peanuts-1/4 cup & Cashew nuts halves-2tbsp. Mix & sauté for 2 minutes in low medium flame.
8.once the cashew nuts & peanuts becomes little golden in color add roasted gram dal/chana dal-3 tbsp. Mix & sauté for a minute.
9.Now add turmeric powder-1/2 tsp & give it a good mix in low heat.
10.After that add the roasted poha & mix well to combine everything.
11.Then add 1/2 tsp or 1tsp red chilly powder & mix it well & sauté for 1 minute.
12.Now add salt as per taste & 1tsp powdered sugar.
13.Give it a nice mix & sauté for 2 minutes in low flame.
14.Once done take it out & allow it to cool down completely.
15.Once its cool down store in air tight container & munch when you want to.
16.Taste well with indian masala chai…
