Ingredients:
1.Rohu fish (curry cut)
Marination:
1.Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
2.Red chilly powder-1 tsp
3.coriander powder-1 tsp
4.Salt to taste
5.Mustard oil-2 tsp
Mustard paste:
1.Mustard seeds (black)-2 tbsp
2.cumin seed-1 tsp
3.Green chilly-4 to 5
4.Garlic-4 to 5
5.Water-1/2 cup
Fish curry:
1.Refined oil-3 tbsp (for frying the fish)
2.Mustard oi-2tbsp
3.Bay leaf-1
4.Cardamom-3
5.Cinnamon stick-1 small
6.Cloves-4
7.Whole dry red chilly-3nos
8.mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
9.Onion-1medium chopped
10.Tomato-1 medium chopped
11.Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
12.Degi mirchi powder-1 tsp
13.Coriander powder-1 tsp
14.Cumin powder-1 tsp
15.Garam masala-1/2 tsp
16.salt to taste
17.coriander leaves.
Method:
The Marination:
1.In a plate take 4 pieces of fish.
2.To it add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder,red chilly powder-1tsp,Coriander powder-1tsp,salt as per taste & mustard oil-2tsp.
3.Mix everything well till the fish coat well with thw spices.
4.Now cover & allow it rest for 20 to 30 minutes.
5.Meanwhile we will prepare the mustard paste.
6.To make the mustard paste, In a blender add black mustard seeds-2tbsp,cumin seeds-1tsp,green chilly-4 to 5,garlic-5 pods.
Now to it add 1/2 cup water & grind it to a smooth paste & keep aside.
7.After 20 minutes heat a pan & add 3 to 4 tbsp oil.
8.When the oil is hot add the fish & fry until well cooked & little bit crispy.
9.It will take 10 to 12 minutes to fry the fish well.
10.Now to make fish curry heat another pan & add mustard oil-2tbsp & let it heat until it fumes.
11.After that turn the heat to medium & add whole spices (bay leaf-1,cinnamon stick-1 small,cardamom-3,cloves-4) & saute for some seconds.
12.Now add 3 to 4 whole dry red chillies & mustard seeds-1/2 tsp & let it splutter.
13.Then add 1/2 cup chopped onion & saute them until soft & transluscent.
14.Once the onions done add chopped tomato-1/2 cup & to make the cooking process faster add some salt & saute until the tomatoes get done.
15.Now add turmeric powder-1/4 tsp,red chilly powder-1tsp,Coriander powder-1tsp & Cumin powder-1tsp.Mix well & saute until oil separates.
16.After that add the prepared mustard paste along with water 1.5 cup or as per your need.Mix well cover & cook for 10 minutes.
17.After that add the fried fish to it Mix , cover & cook for 10 minutes more in low medium flame.
18.Now add garam masala-1/2 tsp,Coriander leaves-3tbsp.Mix well & cook for another minute.
19.Now the fish curry is ready.Enjoy with plain Rice.
