Dal Palak is a delicious lentil based, Indian dish that brings goodness of spinach, garlic together as a humble accompaniment. This is one of the most popular Indian recipes. for dal with the addition of spinach leaves. Cooked with garlic, cumin and chillies its delicious with chapattis,parathas & Rice. This simple and easy spinach dal is healthy, wholesome and packed with protein and fiber.
Ingredients:
1.Spinach/palak-400 gm
2.Moong dal yellow-1 cup
3.Onion-1 medium
4.Tomato-1 medium
5.Green chilly-2 nos
6.ginger-1/2 inch
7.Garlic-6 to 7 pods
8.Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
9.Red chilly powder-1tsp
10.Garam masala-1/2 tsp
11.Coriander leaves
12.Salt to taste
13.Oil- 1 tbsp
14.cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
15.dry red chilly-2 nos.
Method:
1.Take 1 cup yellow moong dal & wash it well.
2.Now take a pressure cooker.Add the washed dal in it along with 1 & 1/2 cup of water.
3.After that add a pinch of turmeric powder & salt mix it well.
4.Cover the lid & cook for three whistles in high flame.
5.Once dal is done take out the pressure cooker & let it cool down.
6.Heat a pan & add oil-1tbsp.
7.When the oil is hot add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds & let it splutter.
8.Now add chopped ginger 1/2 inch,green chilly-2 nos slitted & saute for 1 minute.
9.Now add chopped garlic 6 pods & saute until raw smell goes.
10.After that add chopped onion -1 medium size & saute until transluscent.
11.After the onions get done add chopped tomato 1 medium size along with some salt & saute until the tomatoes get soft
12.Now add 1tsp red chilly powder & saute until oil separates.
13.Now add chopped spinach-400 gm mix & saute until becomes soft.
14.Now add the cooked dal & add water to adjust the consistency & cook until 1 boil comes
15.Now add 1/2 tsp garam masala Mix it well .
16,After that add chopped coriander leaves mix & cook for 1 minute.
17.Now the dal is done Take out in aserving bowl.
For tadka:
1.Heat a pan add oil-1tbsp
2.When the oil is hot add two to 3 dry red chillies & 1tsp red chilly powder
3.Give it a mix & add in the dal.
4.Now palak dal is ready to serve.
